White Vinegar
White Vinegar may be best known for its glass and surface cleaning properties, but it is also an essential part of your laundry arsenal. With the active ingredient being acetic acid, you can be sure it isn't damaging to the environment and aquatic life. Spray it onto the collars, cuffs and underarms of shirts and blouses and leave to soak for half an hour before running through a normal wash.
White Vinegar can also be used as a descaler. If you live in a hard water area, run an empty wash with a bottle of White Vinegar to help remove limescale and to keep the hoses free of build up. If your water, is only medium hardness, use a bottle once every other month. Using Soda Crystals with your normal wash will also help limescale from forming on elements.
