Cleaning Products
There aren't many cleaning and laundry tasks that can't be solved with one of our traditional products.
Here are the main cleaning properties for the main products. For some of the different uses, click on the individual products or go to the 'Tips and Instructions' section.

Soda Crystals - Break down grease and remove dirt and stains. Also a good water softener. The powder variety is normally diluted in warm water for ease of use, although a ready mixed liquid version is available for easy surface cleaning. Do not use on aluminium or lacquered surfaces (unless you intend to remove the lacquer).

Bicarbonate of Soda - Good deodoriser. Also a cleaning agent and mild abrasive/scourer when mixed with water - or add lemon juice or White Vinegar for extra cleaning power.

Household Borax - Similar properties to Soda Crystals, but can be used safely on aluminium. When used in conjunction with your laundry detergent, it adds a mild 'whitening' effect.

White Vinegar - The active ingredient of acetic acid is great as a general surface cleaner, especially on glass. It is also an effective descaler, so is ideal for taps and showers.

Soap Flakes and Liquid Soap - Main uses are for laundry, but can also be used diluted for cleaning wooden and laminate floors. Being simply soap, it's also ideal for cleaning the coats of animals such as dogs and horses.
Citric Acid - A 'natural' acid, commonly found in citrus fruits. It is used for descaling items such as kettles, irons, coffee machines and sterilisers.
